Yamaha MX Models Span Several Vintage Off-Road Classes
Yamaha’s historical product timeline places the MX250 in its early-1970s lineup, followed by models such as the MX125 and MX360 as the company’s off-road range evolved toward the YZ era. PartsNMore’s current MX selection covers multiple displacements, led by MX100 and MX175 applications with additional MX125, MX400, MX250, MX360 and MX80 parts. These model names identify different motorcycles, not one scalable platform.
The transition from MX to later Yamaha YZ competition models also matters. Yamaha’s history identifies the 1974 YZ250M as its first production motorcycle with Monocross suspension. An MX part should therefore not be selected for a YZ—or another MX displacement—unless the individual listing explicitly includes it. Model family, displacement and production year must all agree.
