The Yamaha TDR250’s Two-Stroke Road/Trail Design
Yamaha introduced the TDR250 in 1988 as an on/off-road production motorcycle using a liquid-cooled two-stroke parallel-twin engine derived from the early TZR250. Yamaha installed that engine in a different high-rigidity double-cradle chassis designed for the TDR’s mixed road and trail character. Shared engine ancestry supports only explicitly documented component cross-fit.
TDR250 is separate from Yamaha’s TZ production racers, TZR road-going racer replicas, DT trail motorcycles and the single-cylinder TDR50. Do not use the family letters, styling or displacement alone to select a part. Match the complete model designation, market, frame or engine code and year.
