Decode Kawasaki Model Names and Suffixes
Kawasaki model lettering can identify a specific generation, trim or market application. KZ1000A, KZ1000J and KZ1000P are not simply interchangeable versions of one motorcycle, and KZ650B, KZ650C and KZ650H applications can also differ. Compare the full code and production year instead of relying only on the displacement printed on the side cover.
The Ninja name spans many unrelated motorcycles. Match a Ninja part to the complete ZX or EX designation—such as ZX600, ZX750, ZX900, EX250 or EX500—and then verify the year range. EX500A and EX500D listings should be treated as distinct unless the product page explicitly lists both. The same rule applies to VN Vulcan cruisers and KX off-road models, where displacement alone does not establish fitment.
