Know Which Yamaha Fazer You Own
Yamaha says the FZS600 Fazer entered the European market in 1998. It combined middleweight everyday usability with a distinct FZS model identity. The FZS1000 Fazer arrived for 2001 as a separate 998 cc motorcycle using a carbureted, YZF-R1-derived inline-four in a double-cradle frame. These two displacement families do not share a platform simply because both carry the Fazer name.
The later FZ6-S Fazer was the FZS600’s full-model-change successor, while Yamaha identified the 2006 FZ1 and FZ1 Fazer as successors to the FZS1000. Those later machines introduced substantial engine, fuel-system and chassis changes. Some legacy PartsNMore catalog tags and titles spell FZS1000 as FTS1000 or FTS1000SP. Yamaha's verified model designation is FZS1000, so those records are consolidated here instead of creating a duplicate FTS collection.
