Choosing Parts for Yamaha RZ Motorcycles
The Yamaha RZ name covers more than one displacement, generation and market label. Yamaha records the RZ250 as a Japanese-market model released in 1980 and identifies the RD350LC as the related export model. Yamaha also explains that the export RD350LC was later introduced in Japan as the RZ350, followed by the YPVS-equipped RZ250R and RZ350R model change in 1982. That shared history is useful when searching, but it is not proof that a part interchanges across every RZ250, RZ350 or RD350LC.
The 500cc machines need their own check. Yamaha calls the 1984 Japanese model RZV500R and the overseas model RD500LC. It used a liquid-cooled 499cc two-stroke V4, so it is a different platform from the RZ250 and RZ350 twins. Some parts catalogs use RZ500 or RZ500R as convenient search terms; treat those names as leads, then confirm the exact market model and specification before ordering.
