The WR Suffix Defines the Motorcycle
Yamaha’s WR name spans several generations and very different off-road platforms. PartsNMore inventory is led by the earlier WR250Z applications and the four-stroke WR-F family, including WR250F, WR400F, WR426F and WR450F. Yamaha’s own history places the WR250Z in its early-1990s product line, while Yamaha describes the later WR-F machines as enduro motorcycles developed from the YZ family. WR200R and WR500Z applications belong to the older WR era, and WR250R or WR250X listings identify separate dual-sport and supermoto-oriented models.
A matching displacement is not enough. A WR250Z is not a WR250F, and neither is automatically interchangeable with a WR250R or WR250X. The letters after the number identify different engines, chassis, brakes, suspension and electrical systems. Always retain the full model code when searching or comparing a product.
