About the Honda CB650

Choose Standard, Custom or Nighthawk before comparing vintage 650 repair parts.

Honda Motorcycle Logo

Honda’s early CB650 belongs to the air-cooled four-cylinder era. The 1982 standard CB650 uses a single overhead camshaft; the 1983–1985 CB650SC Nighthawk has a different twin-cam engine and shaft final drive. Those distinctions make the full model and year more useful than the family name when choosing engine parts.

Start with the model, then choose the carburetor year

For the standard CB650, the linked carburetor kits divide into 1980 and 1981–1982 applications. The 1980 kit also covers the 1980 CB650C Custom. The later standard-model kit has no C or SC entry, so use the Custom or Nighthawk guide for those motorcycles.

1979–1982 gasket application

Standard Honda CB650

The overhaul gasket set covers the early standard model. The carburetor kits below have narrower 1980 and 1981–1982 ranges.

Parts checkpoint: Choose the carburetor kit from its own model-year entry.

1980–1981 service parts

CB650C Custom

The linked gasket set, fork seals and rear shoes in the Custom guide cover 1980–1981. Its featured carburetor kit covers 1980 only.

Parts checkpoint: Keep the C suffix when comparing fuel-system parts.

Honda CB650C Custom parts

1982 and 1983–1985

CB650SC Nighthawk

The Nighthawk guide separates the 1982 gasket and fork-seal applications from the later engine and carburetor parts.

Parts checkpoint: Select the SC year before entering a repair category.

Frame, engine & fitted componentsHonda CB650 identification checklist

Use these details to match your motorcycle and any replacement assemblies before ordering.

  1. Record the full frame/VIN and engine numbers, preserving the C or SC designation where applicable.
  2. Confirm the model year from identification evidence rather than a replaced badge or first-registration date.
  3. On a Nighthawk, establish 1982 or 1983–1985 and inspect the fitted engine and final drive.
  4. Copy the carburetor identification and check the actual fork, brake and wheel assemblies before choosing rebuild parts.

Honda CB650 parts questions

Are Honda CB650, CB650C and CB650SC parts interchangeable?
Some individual parts list more than one model, but the suffix and year still matter. The linked early gasket set covers CB650 1979–1982, CB650C 1980–1981 and CB650SC 1982. That shared coverage does not establish interchangeability for other parts.
Which carburetor rebuild kit fits a standard CB650?
The linked kits cover standard CB650 1980 and standard CB650 1981–1982 separately. Neither example establishes 1979 coverage. Match your model year, fitted carburetor identification, kit contents and required quantity.
Why are 1982 and 1983–1985 CB650SC parts separated?
The later Nighthawk uses a DOHC engine and shaft final drive. The featured gasket and carburetor applications separate it from the 1982 SC, so select the exact year before choosing engine or chassis parts.
Do these vintage CB650 parts also fit a CB650F or CB650R?
The vintage examples do not establish later CB650F or CB650R fitment. Select the complete later model and year, then use the application on each product listing.
