About the Honda CB650SC
Keep 1982 and 1983–1985 Nighthawk repairs in their correct year groups.
The 1983–1985 CB650SC Nighthawk uses a DOHC four-cylinder engine, shaft final drive, hydraulic clutch and hydraulic valve-lash adjusters. These are useful identification and service distinctions when comparing it with the 1982 SC. The Nighthawk name alone is not enough to select an engine gasket or fork seal.
Choose the gasket set for your Nighthawk’s year
The early overhaul gasket set includes CB650SC 1982 alongside specific CB650 and CB650C years. The later engine gasket set and carburetor kit cover CB650SC 1983–1985. The fork seals shown are a 1982 application, so later Nighthawk forks need a separate match.

Early gasket and fork-seal applications
The early overhaul gasket set and fork seals below both include CB650SC 1982.
Parts checkpoint: Use a separate seal application for a later Nighthawk fork.
1983–1985 CB650SC
Later DOHC Nighthawk
The later SC has shaft final drive and a hydraulic clutch. Its linked carburetor kit and engine gasket set cover 1983–1985.
Parts checkpoint: Match the engine generation and installed carburetors.

The C has separate model-year applications. One early gasket set listing both C and SC does not make their other service parts interchangeable.
Parts checkpoint: Retain SC when choosing parts for the Nighthawk.

Frame, engine & fitted componentsHonda CB650SC identification checklist
Use these details to match your motorcycle and any replacement assemblies before ordering.
- Confirm the frame/VIN and model year before choosing the 1982 or 1983–1985 parts group.
- Compare the engine identity with the frame and record the final-drive arrangement if an engine swap is possible.
- Copy the fitted carburetor identification before ordering a rebuild kit.
- Check the fork assembly and seal dimensions separately; identify the hydraulic components for later-SC clutch work.
