About the Honda MT250 Elsinore

Clutch plates, carburetor seals and electrical parts for Honda’s road-and-trail Elsinore.

Honda Motorcycle Logo

Honda introduced the MT250 Elsinore in Japan in 1973. Its 248cc two-stroke single, five-speed gearbox, oil injection and road equipment brought Honda’s off-road experience to a road-and-trail motorcycle. For a restoration today, the useful starting point is the identity of the engine, carburetor and controls still fitted to the bike.

Separate the repair jobs before ordering

A leaking float bowl, a sticking front brake cable and a worn clutch need different parts checks. Match the gasket to the bowl profile, the cable to its ends and routing, and the plates to the clutch stack. Keep MT250 applications separate from CR250 and MR250 parts, even when all three carry the Elsinore name.

Know your MT250 before choosing parts1974–1976 MT250 parts: the differences that matter

These are component-specific buying checks, not a blanket interchangeability chart.

1974 MT250

Start with the carburetor identification

The linked clutch plates, ignition coil, front brake cable and fork dust seal include 1974. The bowl gasket starts one year later.

Parts checkpoint: For a 1974 carburetor, confirm the gasket separately.

1975–1976 MT250

Check the fitted float bowl

The featured gasket includes these years. A replacement carburetor can change the gasket recess and bowl profile.

Parts checkpoint: Compare the old gasket and carburetor markings.

MT250, CR250 and MR250

Elsinore is not a fitment specification

Shared branding does not establish engine, chassis or electrical interchangeability. Use the MT250 entry on the individual part.

Parts checkpoint: Confirm the complete model and the assembly being repaired.

Identify your motorcycle before orderingMT250 identification checklist

Use the motorcycle’s markings and fitted components. First-registration dates, tank decals and replacement bodywork can be misleading.

  • Model and year: Record the frame identification, model label and engine markings; resolve mismatches with the correct market manual.
  • Carburetor: Photograph the carburetor marking, float bowl and gasket recess. Note any replacement carburetor.
  • Oil injection: Identify the oil tank, pump and lines, and establish whether the original system remains fitted.
  • Ignition: Match coil mounts, connections and plug lead. Check any wiring or ignition conversion before selecting the listed 6-volt coil.
  • Controls and forks: Compare cable ends and routing, lever hardware, fork identity and seal profile. For clutch plates, check type and stack position.

Honda MT250 parts questions

Will CR250 or MR250 Elsinore parts fit my MT250?
Only when the individual product explicitly lists your MT250 year and matches the fitted component. The Elsinore name alone does not establish engine, carburetor, fork or electrical interchangeability.
Does the MT250 float bowl gasket fit a 1974 model?
The featured gasket lists MT250 1975–1976; 1974 is not confirmed. Compare the carburetor marking and bowl-gasket profile, or send our parts team photos before ordering for a 1974 bike.
Are the MT250 clutch plates a complete clutch kit?
No. The linked clutch plate and steel clutch plate are separate products, each sold individually for MT250 1974–1976. Confirm the plate type, stack position and quantity required.
What voltage is the featured MT250 ignition coil?
The coil with condenser is listed as 6 volts for MT250 1974–1976. Match its mounts, terminals and plug lead, and check any ignition or wiring conversion before ordering.
