About the Honda XR200R

A practical parts guide to early XR200R, 1984–85 RFVC and later two-valve models.

The early XR200R combined a four-stroke single with Pro-Link rear suspension. For 1984–85, Honda used a four-valve RFVC engine with a dual-carburetor arrangement. The 1986 return to two valves is the major engine distinction to resolve before choosing gasket, carburetor or clutch parts.

Follow the year range for each repair

Fork-seal coverage follows a different boundary from engine generation. The later carburetor kits also divide into two ranges. Use the comparison below to identify the component first, then follow the matching repair link; a seal that spans several generations does not establish engine-parts compatibility.

Read the carburetor markings and note whether the installation matches the model year. Keep the RFVC dual-carburetor generation separate from the featured later rebuild kits. Review the components included in the selected kit.

Inspect the fork and clutch separately

Compare fork tube diameter and seal profile. For clutch work, keep the removed plate order recorded and use the product’s exact year list; gaps in an application range must not be filled by assumption.

The linked options divide into 1986–97 and 1998–2002. Choose the stated year range and match the fitted carburetor’s markings, then check the contents. A carburetor replacement may require a different kit from the frame year.

Why does a 1984–85 XR200R need a different engine-parts check?

Those years use the four-valve RFVC engine and dual-carburetor arrangement. Keep them separate from the two-valve applications. The later carburetor kits in this guide do not cover the RFVC assembly.

What fork-seal applications are listed for the XR200R?
