About the Honda XL350

Keep an early XL350 restoration organized, from carburetor and points service to brakes and sealing joints.

The original XL350 brought a four-stroke single, four-valve single-overhead-cam head and five-speed gearbox to Honda’s dual-purpose range. An early XL restoration can bring together carburetor work, contact-points service, crankcase cover sealing and worn chassis parts. Identifying the fitted engine and ignition first helps you build a coherent repair list for a motorcycle that may have been modified over several decades.

Early XL350 fuel, ignition and engine-cover service

Start by separating the early XL350 from the later XL350R. The featured early carburetor kit lists 1974–1976, while the cover gaskets and rear shoes list 1974–1978. For 1977–1978 fuel work, the separate float and petcock have their own entries. Keep those individual ranges beside the parts, and choose left or right engine-cover gaskets for the joint being opened.
