About the Suzuki GT185
Keep the GT185’s engine, fork and brake applications distinct when planning a restoration.
Suzuki’s GT185 archive describes a 184 cc air-cooled two-stroke twin with a cooling-air guide over the cylinders. For parts selection, the useful distinction here is at the forks: the featured 1973–1974 and 1975–1977 seals share a 30 mm inside diameter but have different outside diameters.
An engine-gasket range does not identify the front end
The engine gasket set lists 1973–1978 GT185 applications. The fork seals and front pads cover narrower ranges. Identify the fitted fork lowers and front brake assembly separately, especially if the motorcycle has replacement wheels or suspension.

30 × 40.5 and 30 × 42 mm fork-seal diameters
The 1973–1974 set is listed as 30 × 40.5 × 10.5 mm; the 1975–1977 set is 30 × 42 × 10.5 mm. Matching the 30 mm inside diameter alone is insufficient.
Front pads and engine gaskets
The featured front disc-brake pads list 1976–1977. The engine gasket set lists 1973–1978. Treat each as its own application and confirm the fitted caliper or engine before ordering.
Identify your motorcycle before orderingGT185 identification & fitment checks
- Record GT185 and the year from the identification records and frame/engine markings.
- Measure the fork seal’s inside diameter, outside diameter and height; check for replacement fork lowers.
- Identify the front caliper and compare the engine gasket contents with the actual engine sections being opened.
