About the Yamaha XT500
Carburetor, engine and fork parts for Yamaha’s classic trail single.
Yamaha introduced the XT500 in 1976 as a street-legal trail motorcycle developed from the TT500, using an air-cooled four-stroke single. Its relationship with TT and SR models is useful background for a restoration, but each shared part still needs an explicit XT500 application.
XT500 gasket-set contents and year coverage come first
Engine work offers a useful comparison: the overhaul gasket set below covers 1976–1981, while the Athena set covers 1976–1983. The carburetor kit and fork seals cover 1976–1981; the intake-manifold set starts at 1978. Keep those ranges attached to the individual parts when assembling the order.

Engine gaskets
Two different year ranges
The overhaul gasket-set example lists XT500 1976–1981. The Athena engine gasket set lists 1976–1983.
Parts checkpoint: Compare both application and package contents for the work planned.
Carburetor intake
1978–1981 example
The intake-manifold set linked below lists XT500 1978–1981. The carburetor kit’s earlier start year does not expand that coverage.
Parts checkpoint: Match the manifold, carburetor and engine-side mounting.
Front fork
36 × 48 × 10.5 mm seals
The featured fork oil seals list XT500 1976–1981 and are supplied as a set of two.
Parts checkpoint: Confirm the actual fork and all removed-seal dimensions.
Identify your motorcycle before orderingXT500 identification checklist

- XT500 model designation, year and market.
- Frame and engine markings, including donor-engine details.
- Fitted carburetor and intake-manifold identification.
- Fork assembly and complete oil-seal dimensions.
