About the Honda CRF230
Choose F or L first: shared engine capacity does not make their brake and fuel-system parts interchangeable.
Honda’s CRF230F and CRF230L share a 223cc air-cooled four-stroke single-cylinder description, but they were built for different uses. The F is an off-road trail motorcycle; the L is the dual-sport version. Their common displacement does not establish shared carburetor, fuel-tank or brake components.
CRF230F and CRF230L: which repair guide do you need?
The F trail bike and L dual-sport share a 223cc engine description, but their service parts must be checked separately. The F has a front disc and rear drum brake, so a rear hydraulic master-cylinder kit is not a service part for its original rear brake. Some front hydraulic parts cover both models; the carburetor float and fuel-tap applications below remain model-specific.
Compare before orderingCRF230 repair parts by model and year
These years apply to the linked parts. They are not complete motorcycle production ranges or confirmation that other parts interchange.
| Model | Repair part | Listed years | Before ordering |
|---|---|---|---|
| CRF230F | Front master-cylinder repair kit | 2003–2009, 2012–2017 | 2010–2011 are not confirmed by this application. |
| CRF230F | Rivet-style fuel-tap repair kit | 2003–2017 | Repairs the matching tap; a complete petcock is a separate product. |
| CRF230F | Individual clutch plate | 2003–2005 | Confirm plate type and the quantity needed. |
| CRF230L | Front master-cylinder repair kit | 2008–2009 | This range belongs to the cylinder kit, not every L brake part. |
| CRF230L | Carburetor float | 2008 | The L float entry does not establish F compatibility. |

Identify your motorcycle before orderingCRF230 identification checklist
Use the motorcycle’s markings, model-year paperwork and fitted components together. This checklist does not assign frame or engine serial ranges.
| Check | What to confirm |
|---|---|
| Complete model | Use the F or L designation from the motorcycle’s identification and paperwork. |
| Model year and market | Record both before comparing the specific application; registration date alone can be misleading. |
| Brake location | Confirm whether the job concerns the front caliper, front master cylinder or rear brake. |
| Fuel-system equipment | Match the fitted carburetor or fuel tap, including any replacement tank or assembly. |
