About the Kawasaki KE250
Bring the brakes, swingarm and lighting into the same restoration plan.
The KE250 sits within Kawasaki’s KE trail-bike family. The 1977 factory parts catalog identifies the U.S. version as KE250-B1 and separates its front hub and brake, swingarm and turn-signal assemblies. Those separate assemblies provide a practical way to organize a restoration without treating all KE models as interchangeable.
A KE250 chassis refresh can involve several small repairs in the same order: front drum-brake shoes, swingarm bushings and missing or damaged signal components. Check whether the original signal housing is reusable before choosing a lens or complete lamp. Previous wheel, swingarm or lighting changes also need to be accounted for when matching the parts.

These examples list KE250 1977–1979. A front brake shoe application does not establish rear brake fitment. Likewise, the replacement lens must match the existing housing, while the lamp requires a check of mounting and electrical connections.

Identify the fitted equipmentIdentify your KE250 before choosing parts
- Confirm the KE250 model, year and market version from the frame identification and matching model documentation.
- For brake shoes, identify the front hub and compare shoe diameter, width, pivot ends and spring arrangement.
- Inspect the swingarm pivot and compare the replacement bushing dimensions and the set contents.
- Compare signal lens shape, screw spacing and housing; for a lamp, also check mounting, connector and electrical specification.
