About the Kawasaki KLX250
Early KLX250A and later KLX250D parts belong to different repair paths.
The original KLX250 was already being road-tested in 1979 as Kawasaki’s four-stroke dirt bike. Kawasaki later used KLX250R for the D series, including the 1994 KLX250-D2. Those names span different machines, so “KLX250” by itself is only a starting point for a repair order.
Choose the generation before the repair category
PartsNMore lists early KLX250A engine and chassis components for 1979–80. Several KLX250D clutch, brake and cooling parts list 1994–96, while some D suspension listings have different limits. Other suffixes can appear in the wider results; check the exact model on each product.

1979–80 listed applications
KLX250A
Compare early engine gaskets, a plain steel clutch plate, fork seals and a cam chain. These A applications do not extend to D.

KLX250D / KLX250R
Use the D designation, then check each part’s year limits. Oil seals and DU bushings are not listed for identical year ranges.

Check every application
An H, J, S or other KLX250 listing must match that complete model. Shared names do not establish early A or D compatibility.
Identification checklistIdentify your Kawasaki KLX250 before ordering
Use the frame model, engine identification and the correct market’s catalogue together.
- Read the model prefix and suffix on the frame identification and compare them with the correct market catalogue.
- Record the engine number separately if an engine swap or rebuild is possible.
- Identify the fitted forks and brake system before using an early or later service-parts listing.
- Match the original component’s dimensions, profile and mounting points before ordering.
