About the Honda XR250
Choose R or L first, then match the application of each repair part.
The XR250 family contains several distinct buying paths. The featured XR250R carburetor kits divide into 1984–1985, 1986–1995 and 1996–2004. The selected engine gasket set has different boundaries: XR250R 1985–1995 and XR250L 1991–1996. For a 1996 R, the later carb kit is listed but that particular gasket set is outside its R application.
Use shared parts carefully
The rear brake pads name both R and L applications, while the early fork seals name XR250R 1981–1982 only. A pad or gasket shared between models does not establish carburetor interchange. For an imported XR250 with a different model code, use its original market and fitted assemblies before selecting either branch.
Identification and parts selectionXR250R and XR250L: which listed repair path applies?
| Model and years | Featured choice | Important boundary |
|---|---|---|
| XR250R 1984–1985 | 1984–1985 R carb kit | The featured gasket set includes 1985, not 1984. |
| XR250R 1986–1995 | 1986–1995 R carb kit | The featured gasket set also includes these R years. |
| XR250R 1996–2004 | 1996–2004 R carb kit | The featured R/L gasket set stops at 1995 for R. |
| XR250L 1991–1996 | R/L engine gasket set | Includes L 1992 as well as the other listed L years. The R carb kits do not establish L fitment. |
| Rear brake: R 1992–2004; L 1991–1996 | Rear brake-pad product | Honda reference 43105-KS6-702A; compare the rear caliper and pad outline. |
| Early fork: R 1981–1982 | 37 × 50 × 11 mm oil-seal set | Two seals. This early fork application is independent of the later carb-kit ranges. |
Identify your motorcycle before orderingXR250 identification checklist
Record the complete model designation, year, original market, frame/VIN and engine markings. Photograph the carburetor, brake or fork identification for the repair, especially after an assembly swap.
Japanese XR250 MD30 context
Honda’s 2003 Japanese XR250 used the BA-MD30 model designation and MD17E engine type, with an air-cooled 249 cc four-stroke single, electric starting and an inverted fork. Those details identify that Japanese model; they do not establish compatibility with parts listed only for XR250R or XR250L.
Send PartsNMore the full identifiers and component photos if the correct R, L or market-specific application is unclear.
