Honda VT250 parts: keep the model suffix with the repair
Compare the model, the repair location and the part’s own application before ordering.
The VT250 name on its own is too broad to select every component. The oil-filter listing covers VT250 1982–1988, while the fuel-tap kit specifically names VT250R 1988–1990. Even where the years overlap, the two entries do not create a common fitment range.
Start with the assembly being serviced. An oil filter renews the engine’s filter element; a petcock kit services parts within the fuel tap. Later VT250C and VT250C2 items appearing in a wider catalog need their own complete applications. Keep the suffix visible when comparing a product with your motorcycle.

| Part or repair | Listed model and years | Selection detail |
|---|---|---|
| Oil filter | VT250 1982–1988 | Replacement reference 15412-413-005; compare the element and housing. |
| Petcock repair kit | VT250R 1988–1990 | Compare the original tap and included sealing pieces; a kit is not a complete replacement tap. |
Identify your motorcycle before orderingVT250 identification checklist
- Record the full factory model code, including R, C or C2 where present, and the model year.
- For the filter, compare the removed element and housing arrangement; inspect cover seals separately rather than assuming they come with the filter.
- For the tap, photograph its fitted position, outlet and internal layout. Confirm the kit contents and that the existing tap body can be reused.
