About the Yamaha DT200R
Service the rear drum, front forks and clutch on your DT200R.
The DT200R brought Yamaha’s liquid-cooled two-stroke technology to a street-legal trail motorcycle. Yamaha’s 1984 reference identifies YPVS and a front disc brake. For a restoration, the rear brake, suspension and clutch each need their own parts check rather than a general match to the DT200 name.
Choosing DT200R service parts
Begin with the assembly you are servicing. The rear shoes below list 1984–1987, fork seals list 1995–1996, and the clutch plate lists 1989–1990 and 1995. Identify replacement forks or wheels separately, and retain the missing years when comparing the clutch application.

1984–1987 rear shoes
The shoe application belongs to the early rear drum. It does not establish a brake-pad application or coverage for 1988 onward.
1989–1990 and later service parts
The clutch plate covers 1989–1990 and 1995; the selected oil seals cover 1995–1996. Indicator coverage has a separate 1989–1990 entry.
Identify your motorcycle before orderingDT200R identification checklist
- Read the R suffix and year from the model documents and frame identification.
- Match oil-seal dimensions to the fitted fork, not another DT family member.
- Keep the actual brake and clutch assembly identity in your notes if parts have been swapped.
