About the Yamaha IT465
Plan your IT465 repair around the engine, front drum and suspension pivots actually fitted.
The 1981 and 1982 IT465 have separate Yamaha parts references within the IT range. On an older off-road motorcycle, the frame identity is only the start: a replacement wheel, fork or swingarm can change the service parts needed. The repair examples below retain their own 1981–1982 IT465 applications.
Check the steering head and swingarm separately
Notchy steering and movement at the swingarm call for checks at different bearing locations. Inspect the stem, races, pivot sleeves and housings before choosing replacement bearings. During clutch work, identify the plate type and inspect the rest of the stack. For fork seals, the product entries show different heights; match the removed seal and fitted fork rather than choosing by model name alone.

Front brake
1981–1982 front drum shoes
Match the front drum and shoe profile. These shoes are for the front brake, not a disc-brake caliper.
Bearing location
Steering head versus swingarm
Determine which pivot is worn. A steering kit and swingarm needle bearings service separate locations.
Fork seals
Compare the full seal dimensions
More than one seal height appears in the IT465 selection. Read the old markings and identify the fitted fork before ordering.
