About the Honda CT70H

Four speeds and a hand clutch make the H a distinct Trail 70 application.

Honda’s CT70H service specifications identify a four-speed transmission with a wet, hand-operated clutch. That separates the H from the early three-speed CT70 with its centrifugal automatic clutch, even when two restored bikes look similar.

Shared small parts still need an H listing

The selected float and pin, contact points and condenser explicitly list CT70H 1971–1972. The featured tank-cap rubber seal lists CT70H 1972 only. These small differences matter when building an order for an early H or for a bike fitted with a replacement cap or carburetor.

How does CT70H differ from the early automatic-clutch CT70?
Honda’s CT70H specification uses four speeds and a hand-operated clutch. The early CT70 specification uses three speeds and a centrifugal automatic clutch. Confirm the installed engine on a modified bike.
Does cap seal 73-0920 list both 1971 and 1972 CT70H?
No. The current CT70H application lists 1972 only. Confirm a 1971 application separately, and match the seal to the cap actually installed.
Which CT70H years do the selected ignition parts list?
Contact point 14-0003 and condenser 26-5101 each list CT70H 1971–1972. They require the matching points-ignition arrangement; a converted ignition needs its own parts.
Can I use CT70K clutch parts in the CT70H?
Do not assume interchange. The H has a different clutch and transmission arrangement. Choose a product that explicitly confirms your CT70H application and matches the installed assembly.
