About the Kawasaki KX500
Two-stroke engine, fork, brake and clutch parts for KX500 rebuilds.
The KX500 is Kawasaki’s big-bore two-stroke motocross family. Early clutch and fork applications differ from later engine and E-series chassis selections. Race bikes may also have donor suspension or controls, so record the fitted assemblies alongside the frame’s model year.
A gasket range is not a complete-bike parts range
The linked engine gasket set covers KX500 1989–2004. That interval applies to the gasket set alone. The early steel clutch plate lists 1983–1984, while the early fork oil seals list 1983–1987. Use the repair cards to reach the relevant component rather than combining these products into an all-years rebuild kit.
Know your KX500 before choosing partsKX500 model and repair differences
Use these component-specific applications when planning your repair.
1983–1984 listed application
Early clutch plates
The selected steel clutch plate has an early KX500 listing.
Parts checkpoint: It does not establish a later E-series clutch application.
1983–1987 and 1990 examples
Fork parts with separate limits
The early oil-seal set lists 1983–1987, while the featured dust seal lists 1990.
Parts checkpoint: Match the actual fork; these are not one combined service kit.
Later KX500 and KX500E
Engine and chassis labels
The gasket example uses KX500; several later chassis products use KX500E.
Parts checkpoint: Keep each product’s exact designation and year when narrowing the selection.
Identify your motorcycle before orderingKX500 identification checklist
Record the model year, full model code and any replacement assemblies.
Identify the complete model and year
Compare frame and engine markings with the correct Kawasaki documentation. Retain the full model suffix for a model-year identification check.
Look for donor suspension and controls
Photograph fork markings, calipers, brake lever and master cylinder. Record any donor details because an original-frame year may not describe those assemblies.
