About the Honda CB550SC Nighthawk
A DOHC, shaft-drive Nighthawk with separate master-cylinder, slave-cylinder and fork-service choices.
The CB550SC Nighthawk uses a DOHC four-cylinder engine with hydraulic valve-lash adjusters, a hydraulic clutch and shaft drive. Honda’s 1984 Canadian brochure includes the 550 in its Nighthawk range. These features make the SC a distinct service proposition from the earlier CB550F and K, despite the shared CB550 name.
Separate clutch controls from clutch actuation
The clutch master cylinder is at the handlebar; the slave cylinder is at the engine. Their repair kits service different assemblies. Fork service is a separate choice: the selected two-seal set lists 1983–1984 and measures 37 × 50 × 11 mm. For an earlier Four or Super Sport, return to the CB550 family guide.
