XJR1200 and XJR1300 Are Separate Generations
Yamaha introduced the XJR1200 for the Japanese market in 1994. Its 1,188cc air-cooled inline-four was derived from the FJ1200 engine but retuned around the low- and mid-speed response Yamaha wanted for the XJR. The XJR1300 succeeded it in 1998 with a 1,250cc air-cooled inline-four; Yamaha’s history also identifies ceramic-composite-plated cylinders and forged aluminum pistons. That shared XJR identity does not make 1200 and 1300 parts automatically interchangeable.
PartsNMore’s current inventory is strong for both XJR1300 and XJR1200 applications. Counts overlap because some service products list both models. Use the displacement-specific route to narrow the catalog, then confirm the individual year and product application rather than treating those counts as separate inventories.
