Different Ténéré Models, Different Platforms
Yamaha used the Ténéré and Super Ténéré names across several distinct adventure motorcycles. The 1989 XTZ750 Super Ténéré used a 749 cc, five-valve parallel-twin engine with a 360-degree crank. Yamaha then introduced the XTZ660 Ténéré in 1991 with a five-valve 660 cc single-cylinder engine, while the 2010 XT1200Z Super Ténéré moved to a 1200 cc parallel twin with a 270-degree crank, fuel injection and electronic rider-support systems. These are separate engine, chassis, fuel-system and brake generations.
Model naming deserves the same care as displacement. Yamaha’s primary history calls the earlier model XT600 or XT600Z Ténéré, not XTZ600, and its 2010 launch material uses XT1200Z even though some catalogs group that bike under XTZ1200. The isolated XTZ600 catalog token is therefore not exposed as a child route here. Read the full model code from the motorcycle before relying on a collection or product fitment statement.
