About the Suzuki GS1000G
Plan engine, clutch and brake work for the shaft-drive GS1000G.
The GS1000G takes the GS1000 family in a touring direction with shaft final drive. Its enclosed rear drive provides a quick distinction from the chain-drive roadsters. For a repair, the next step is to identify the engine joint, clutch plate or brake component being serviced; these determine the parts you need.
Build the gasket list around the work planned
A complete engine teardown and removal of the valve cover are different jobs. The engine gasket set below covers G 1980–1982, while the separate cover gasket covers G 1980–1981. The linked clutch and rear master-cylinder parts also have 1980–1981 G applications.

G-model engine sealing
Use the engine marking and joint location together. A leak around the cylinder-head cover calls for a different sealing component from a joint exposed during a complete engine rebuild.
Clutch stack and rear hydraulics
Friction plates and plain steel plates are separate parts in the clutch stack. For rear brake work, identify the master cylinder at the brake pedal and distinguish it from the caliper at the rear wheel.
