About the Suzuki GS650G
Carburetor, engine and fork service for the shaft-driven GS650G.
The GS650G pairs Suzuki’s air-cooled four-cylinder engine with shaft final drive. For a restoration, keep the frame and engine identification alongside the parts order: an exchanged engine or front end may need service parts for its own application.
Carb kits, diaphragms and fork seals have different year coverage
The carburetor kit and engine gasket set below cover G 1981–1983. Fork seals are a separate choice at 1982–1983, and the slide-diaphragm application ends at 1982. Checking those boundaries now helps avoid ordering a complete repair around the years of just one component.
Model and year comparisonGS650G parts differences
Use these model and component differences to narrow the correct parts for your motorcycle.
Engine
1981–1983 gasket example
The set fits GS650G 1981–1983. Compare the package with the engine covers and joints you will open.
Parts checkpoint: An engine gasket application does not determine fork fitment.
Front fork
1982–1983 seal example
The oil seals measure 35 × 48 × 10.5/11 mm and fit G 1982–1983.
Parts checkpoint: Do not extend this example to 1981 without a separate match.
Carburetor diaphragm
1981–1982 application
The separate slide diaphragm fits G 1981–1982, although the rebuild kit also fits G 1983.
Parts checkpoint: Treat diaphragm and rebuild-kit coverage independently.
Prepare for the repairIdentify your GS650G components
Use these checks when a registration year or a model badge does not identify the fitted parts.
- GS650G designation and confirmed model year.
- Frame and engine markings recorded independently.
- Carburetor body identification and known replacements.
- Fitted fork assembly and complete removed-seal dimensions.
