About the Yamaha YZF600R
Carburetor and service parts for the YZF600R, including the Thundercat.
Yamaha introduced the YZF600R Thundercat in 1996 as the successor to the FZR600R popular in Europe. Its liquid-cooled inline-four used carburetors with a throttle-position sensor and a steel Deltabox frame. That makes carburetor identification a useful starting point for fuel-system work. This selection also covers clutch and fork service, with earlier YZF600R entries checked separately by year. The Yamaha YZF600 family page provides broader navigation.
Check kit scope before stripping an assembly
A carburetor kit is not automatically a complete-bank package, and a clutch plate is sold separately from a spring kit. Check quantities and contents before dismantling. For fork service, distinguish dust seals from oil seals and retaining rings; they perform different jobs and need to match the fitted fork assembly.

Carburetor application
The featured rebuild kit lists 1996–2002 YZF600R. Compare carburetor markings, gasket profiles and the actual included service pieces.
Clutch plate versus spring kit
The plate lists 1995–2006 and is sold individually. The spring kit lists 1996–1998. Confirm the separate quantity and application for each.
Fork-service components
The featured dust seals list 1995–1998. They exclude contamination; they do not replace the oil seals that retain fork oil. Match the original fork and seal profiles.
Identify your motorcycle before orderingYZF600R identification checklist
Use the motorcycle’s identification and the fitted component together. A registration year or family name can leave important application details unresolved.
- Confirm the full YZF600R model and model year.
- Record carburetor markings and compare the clutch stack specification before selecting kits or plates.
- Identify the fitted forks and record the dimensions of removed seals when planning suspension work.
