About the Honda CB500
Choose the engine generation first, then the repair and the exact product application.
The CB500 name spans the original 1971 Four, the separate CB500T DOHC twin and later liquid-cooled twins. A shared displacement or CB badge cannot identify the carburetor, engine gasket or brake assembly being repaired.
Use this page as the generation guide
Choose the classic CB500K Four guide for its 1971–1973 repair examples, or the CB500T guide for the 1975–1976 twin. For later models, use the labelled routes above and keep the year with the complete model name.
A carburetor bowl gasket belongs to a carbureted application. A coolant-temperature sensor belongs to a cooling-system repair. The modern fuel-injected CB500F and CB500X introduced for 2013 must be distinguished from the earlier air-cooled motorcycles before either part is considered.
Identify the model and plan the repairCB500 generations and useful repair routes
Classic Four
CB500K engine and carburetor work
1971–1973 Four repair examples include a dedicated carburetor kit and overhaul gasket set.
Classic twin
CB500T engine and carburetor work
1975–1976 CB500T twin repairs use separate carburetor and engine-gasket products.
Later carbureted entries
Read the year beside R, S or K
Bowl gasket: CB500K/CB500S 1996–2002. The neutral-switch listing has different, explicitly stated year coverage; it does not cover every year between its earliest and latest entries.
Later F and X entries
Identify the cooling and fuel system
Coolant-temperature sensor applications must be checked by full model and year. A later twin part is not established for the early Four.
