About the Honda CL70

CL70 engine, carburetor and front-brake parts with clear year boundaries.

Honda Motorcycle Logo

Honda’s CL70 Scrambler needs its own application within the small Honda range. CL70, CT70 and C70 are not interchangeable labels for ordering. Even within CL70, the selected tank petcock and front brake shoes cover an additional year compared with the engine gasket set and carburetor float components.

Tank petcock or carburetor float valve?

The petcock opens and shuts off fuel at the tank. The float needle and seat control fuel entering the carburetor bowl, operated by the float. A replacement petcock does not repair a worn float valve. Identify the affected component and compare the tank connection or carburetor markings before choosing a part.

Use these component-specific applications when planning your repair.

1969–1972 listed applications

Engine and carburetor examples

The selected gasket set, carburetor float and float needle list these CL70 years.

Parts checkpoint: These examples do not verify fitment on a 1973 motorcycle.

1969–1973 listed applications

Front shoes and tank petcock

These two selected products include an additional CL70 year.

Parts checkpoint: Check the front brake position and the tank mounting separately.

Changed engines or fuel systems

Use the installed component identity

A replacement engine, carburetor or fuel tank may change the required part.

Parts checkpoint: Record the component markings and dimensions alongside the CL70 frame identity.

Identify your motorcycle before orderingCL70 identification checklist

Record the model year, full model code and any replacement assemblies.

Record frame and engine details

Compare the frame and engine markings with model-specific Honda documentation. Keep the model year distinct from the date first registered.

Check the carburetor and tank fittings

Photograph carburetor markings, float hinge arrangement and the tank outlet. If an engine or tank has been replaced, supply those details before selecting fuel parts.

Honda CL70 parts questions

Do all CL70 parts in this guide fit 1973?
No. The selected front brake shoes and fuel petcock list 1969–1973. The gasket set, carburetor float and float needle examples list 1969–1972 only.
Is a fuel petcock the same as a float needle valve?
No. The petcock controls fuel from the tank. The float needle regulates fuel entering the carburetor bowl. Identify which component needs repair before ordering.
Are CL70, CT70 and C70 parts automatically interchangeable?
No. A product must explicitly list your CL70 model year, and it must match the fitted component. Similar names or engine capacity alone do not establish fitment.
Can the featured front brake shoes also be used at the rear?
The linked product specifies the front position. Check a separate rear application and compare the drum and shoe arrangement before selecting rear brake parts.
