About the Honda CM250

Practical clutch, fork and brake repairs for Honda's compact CM250 cruiser range.

Honda Motorcycle Logo

Honda's CM250 name appears on different market versions. The Japanese CM250T announced in 1980 used a 249 cc overhead-cam twin with three valves per cylinder. The CM250C Custom has its own owner's manual, with chain-drive and belt-drive equipment identified by destination. The complete model matters more than the shared 250 badge.

Start with the repair you can identify on the motorcycle

Fork oil seals, rear drum shoes and clutch parts are useful starting points for keeping a CM250 in service. The repair cards below keep their exact applications visible. For engine gaskets, the full CM250C or CM250T designation and engine identity are essential; a broad CM250 year range cannot establish that different engines share a set.

Identify the model and plan the repairCM250, CM250C and CM250T: keep the applications separate

CM250-labelled service parts

Forks, rear drum and clutch

The fork seals and rear shoes list CM250 1982–1983. The individual clutch plate lists 1982–1984. These model labels are retained exactly; they do not establish every C or T application.

CM250C Custom

A confirmed swingarm seal route

CM250C 1982–1983 swingarm dust seal cap has an explicit C-model application. It is an individual seal cap, not a complete bearing or swingarm rebuild kit.

CM250T / original market

Identify the engine and final drive

Honda’s Japanese CM250T announcement identifies model type MC04 and a three-valve-per-cylinder twin. The CM250C manual distinguishes final-drive equipment by destination. Check the actual engine, chain or belt before choosing related parts.

Identify your motorcycle before orderingCM250 frame, engine and component checks

This checklist records the equipment actually fitted to the motorcycle. A drive type or registration date alone does not identify every engine part.

CM250 identification checklistWhat to record before ordering

CM250 model and component identification checklist
Check What to record How it helps
Full model and market CM250C or CM250T designation; destination Separates market versions before engine-parts selection.
Engine Complete stamped identity Identifies the engine if it has been changed.
Final drive Chain/sprockets or belt/pulleys Selects the correct drive components.
Fork, clutch or rear brake Old part dimensions and assembly photographs Matches the repair to its fitted equipment.

Honda CM250 parts questions

Does a CM250 product application automatically include CM250C and CM250T?
No. The featured fork seals and rear shoes use the CM250 label for 1982–1983, while the swingarm dust seal cap explicitly names CM250C 1982–1983. Keep those applications separate and confirm the full model and fitted assembly.
Which featured part explicitly lists CM250C Custom?
The linked swingarm dust seal cap lists CM250C 1982–1983. It is sold individually and protects its matching pivot area. It is not a complete swingarm bearing kit or a fork oil seal.
Why must I check chain or belt drive on a Honda CM250?
The CM250C owner’s manual distinguishes final-drive equipment by destination. Photograph the chain and sprockets or the belt and pulleys fitted to your bike, and record its original market. The shared CM250 name alone does not identify drive parts.
Which CM250 fork and clutch years are supported by the examples?
The featured 31 × 43 × 10 fork seals and rear brake shoes list CM250 1982–1983. The individual clutch plate lists CM250 1982–1984. A longer clutch application does not extend the fork or brake coverage.
