About the Honda FT500
Fork service, rear disc brake repairs and clutch parts for Honda’s FT500 Ascot single.
Honda introduced the FT500 in 1982 with an air-cooled, four-valve single-cylinder engine, electric starting and disc brakes at both wheels. For restoration work, identify the FT500 and its installed assemblies before comparing parts with another 500-class motorcycle.
Build the fork-service parts list correctly
The fork oil seals retain oil; the dust seals protect the area where the tube enters the lower assembly. The oil-seal product is a set of two, while dust seals are individual items. Replacing both dust seals therefore requires two of that separately sold component.

Resolve these component and quantity differences before placing the order.
Fork service
Two oil seals; individual dust seals
The 37 × 50 × 11 mm oil seals are a set of two. Dust seals are separate individual parts.
Parts checkpoint: Order two dust seals if replacing both, and match dimensions on replacement forks.
Rear disc brake
Caliper piston with seals
The linked piston and seals cover the 1982–1983 FT500 rear caliper.
Parts checkpoint: This rear component does not establish front-caliper fitment.
Clutch service
Clutch plates and plain steel plates
Both types are separately available for 1982–1983 FT500 and are sold individually.
Parts checkpoint: Identify the plate type and quantity needed for the clutch stack.
