About the Honda GL1200A Aspencade
Repair guidance for the regular Aspencade, with a clear route to the separate SE-i.
The GL1200A combined Honda’s 1,182 cc Gold Wing platform with Aspencade touring equipment. The 1984 model used LCD instruments and a rear lightbar to distinguish it from the Interstate. Equipment differences matter when restoring controls and bodywork, even where selected engine and chassis service parts overlap.
Regular Aspencade and fuel-injected SE-i are separate choices
This page covers the carbureted GL1200A. The 1986 GL1200SEI also carries the Aspencade name, but its fuel injection and associated equipment require the SE-i guide. Within regular Aspencade applications, clutch sets split into 1984–1985 and 1986–1987 groups. The top-end gasket set and fork oil seals cover the full 1984–1987 GL1200A range.
