One family, several distinct Shadows

The VT1100 range includes the VT1100C Shadow and Spirit, VT1100C2 ACE and Sabre, VT1100C3 Aero, VT1100D2 ACE and VT1100T ACE Tourer. These names help identify the motorcycle, but the complete model code and year determine which product application to use.

Early VT1100C carburetor kits have separate 1985–1986 and 1987–1989 applications. Later carburetor, fork and brake parts have their own year ranges. The model links below take you to those comparisons without making you sort through another Shadow’s parts.

Early and later kits

1985–1986 carburetor repair kit and 1987–1989 carburetor repair kit cover different VT1100C years. The later kit has separate C, C2, C3, D2 and T listings.

Forks and brakes

Shared appearance is not a fitment rule

A fork oil seal, dust seal and cap O-ring seal different locations. Rear brake pad fitment also remains separate from front brake fitment.

Which VT1100 collection should I choose?
Use the complete code on your motorcycle’s identification: VT1100C for Shadow/Spirit, C2 for ACE/Sabre, C3 for Aero, D2 for the listed ACE variant, or T for ACE Tourer. Then choose the model year.
Are VT1100C2 ACE and Sabre parts interchangeable?
Some individual products list both, but there is no blanket interchange. The C2 collection covers the 1995–1999 ACE and 2000–2007 Sabre; fork dust seals are one example with separate applications.
Which early VT1100C carburetor kit do I need?
The featured kits split VT1100C into 1985–1986 and 1987–1989 applications. A separate later kit lists C 1995–2007. These examples do not establish a kit for 1990–1994.
What information helps identify an uncertain Shadow part?
