About the Honda XL185S
Carburetor rebuilds, engine resealing and steel clutch-plate replacement.
Honda’s parts documentation identifies the 1979 motorcycle as XL185S. For an older trail bike, check both the frame identity and the engine fitted now, especially when planning a gasket order after previous repairs or an engine swap.
Choose the gasket set for the engine work
The selected carburetor kit and both engine gasket sets list 1979–1983. Compare the top-end set for cylinder and head work with the complete set for a wider teardown, using the actual contents to build your order. The steel clutch plate has a separate 1979–1988 application and is sold individually.

Carb and engine gaskets
1979–1983 listed applications
The selected kit and gasket sets explicitly include these XL185S years. Inspect their contents and the fitted assemblies.
Clutch plates
1979–1988 steel-plate application
The featured component is a steel clutch plate sold individually. It is a different service item from a friction plate or complete clutch set.
Before orderingModel, frame and component identification
- Copy the model and year from factory identification and record the engine marking separately.
- Photograph the carburetor body and bowl before comparing rebuild kits.
- For fork repairs, confirm the seal size and fitted fork. The selected 31 × 43 × 10 seal application is 1981–1983, not every XL185S year.
Send the PartsNMore team your model and year, plus clear photos of the component and its markings. Use factory documentation for serial-number interpretation.
