About the Honda XR600R
Plan XR600R carburetor, fork, rear-brake and oil-cover repairs with the right parts for each job.
An XR600R service plan benefits from separating fuel-system work, fork leaks, rear-brake wear and oil-cover sealing. Each job opens a different assembly and calls for different components. On a bike with a long service history, keep notes about replacement carburetors, forks or wheels so the next parts order follows the equipment fitted today.
Prepare carburetor and oil-service parts independently
The carburetor kit lists XR600R 1991–2000. Compare its contents with the carburetor being rebuilt, especially after a conversion. The cover O-ring and fork seals list 1985–2000; the rear shoes list 1985–1990. The cover O-ring seals the joint and remains separate from the oil-filter element.
Know your XR600R before choosing partsXR600R repair checkpoints
Use the checkpoints below to prepare the parts list for your repair.
Rear drum service
1985–1990 shoes are position-specific
The highlighted shoes are for the rear brake. Check the hub, shoe profile and springs; they do not establish a front-brake application.
Carburetor repair
Keep the 1991–2000 kit with its listed application
Match the carburetor body and kit contents before dismantling. A different carburetor on the bike requires a separate check even when the frame year falls within this range.
Engine cover
An O-ring seals a joint
The 1985–2000 cover O-ring is useful for a leaking filter-cover joint. Identify the actual leak before replacing it, and select the oil filter separately.
Identify your motorcycle before orderingXR600R identification checklist
Record the motorcycle’s identification and check for replacement assemblies before choosing service parts.
- Confirm the XR600R model year using the frame identification and appropriate model documentation.
- Inspect the rear brake and carburetor directly; record any wheel conversion, replacement carburetor or engine swap.
- Compare fork seal dimensions and the filter-cover O-ring location with the actual components before ordering.
