About the Kawasaki KH400
Plan fuel-system, engine-sealing and chassis repairs for the KH400 triple.
The KH400 belongs to Kawasaki’s two-stroke triple family, where preserving the engine’s fuel supply, lubrication and sealing is central to a successful restoration. Many selected parts here identify the motorcycle as KH400A. Retain that designation during research instead of assuming that KH250, KH500 or earlier S-series parts share the same specification.
Plan a complete recommissioning inspection
Before concentrating on cosmetic work, inspect the fuel tank, carburetors, oil supply and engine sealing, then assess the brakes and fork condition. A gasket set supports a defined teardown; it is not evidence that every crankshaft seal or other internal service part is included. Use the correct workshop information to decide the scope of the engine repair.

KH400 and KH400A
Use the detailed application
The featured engine, fork and front-brake listings specify KH400A 1976–1978. Use that application as a product-level check rather than treating the parent page as universal coverage.
Fuel and engine sealing
Plan separate service items
Float-valve wear and engine sealing are different repair jobs. Check carburetor condition and gasket-set contents independently, including any seals needed beyond the supplied set.
Restoration changes
Identify replacement brakes
A modern replacement master cylinder may use different internal parts. Match its bore and piston arrangement rather than ordering an original-style repair kit from the motorcycle name alone.
Identify your motorcycle before orderingKH400 identification checklist
Record the motorcycle’s identification and check for replacement assemblies before choosing service parts.
- Record the frame and engine markings and compare them with the model documentation; do not infer a complete serial range from one example.
- Check whether the original-style carburetors, oil supply and ignition remain fitted, and photograph any conversions.
- Identify the front master cylinder and caliper and measure fork seals before ordering chassis-service parts.
