About the Kawasaki ZL900
A parts guide for the shaft-drive ZL900 Eliminator, with the ZL900A designation and year differences explained.
Kawasaki’s ZL900 Eliminator combined a 908 cc liquid-cooled four-cylinder engine, six-speed transmission and shaft final drive in a performance cruiser. The model codes identify ZL900-A1 for 1985 and ZL900-A2 for 1986. Knowing that full designation is useful when a registration or tank badge simply says Eliminator.
Use the family page to map out the job
The carburetor rebuild kit, engine gasket set and individual clutch plate linked below list ZL900A for 1985–1986. The fork seal pair has a narrower 1985 application. Keep those distinctions in the same repair plan: a shared engine-service listing does not establish the application for suspension parts or another Eliminator model.

Identify your motorcycle before orderingZL900 identification checklist
- Confirm ZL900A and the model year from the frame identification and motorcycle records. Do not select by the Eliminator badge alone.
- Match the fitted carburetor identification and old sealing parts with the kit information.
- For engine work, identify the joint being opened and compare the gasket set contents; a set name does not guarantee every seal needed.
- Check fork seal dimensions and clutch plate quantity independently of the general collection year range.
