GSX400 engine parts: identify the engine before matching a seal
Compare the model, the repair location and the part’s own application before ordering.
Suzuki’s archive describes the 1980 GSX400E as a two-cylinder model and the 1981 GSX400F as a four-cylinder model. These names should not be treated as one engine application. Record the full suffix, model year and the engine actually fitted before ordering internal or sealing parts.
The three products here have different jobs: the filter services the oil circuit, the cap O-ring seals the filter-cover joint, and the valve-stem seal is used within the cylinder head. An oil-filter service does not automatically require valve-stem seals, and a broad GSX400 listing does not establish every GSX400E or GSX400F application.

Identify your model before orderingSuzuki GSX400 identification checklist
- Record the full GSX400 suffix and year. Confirm engine configuration against the correct manufacturer parts information.
- For a cap leak, compare the old O-ring with the correct groove, inside diameter and cross-section; inspect the cover sealing surface.
- For cylinder-head service, identify the valve and guide arrangement and the number of seals required. Do not infer quantity from the collection name.
