About the Suzuki GT500

Restore the engine sealing, forks and front brake on Suzuki’s two-stroke twin.

Suzuki Motorcycle Logo

The Suzuki GT500 is an air-cooled two-stroke twin. For a restoration, separate engine-joint sealing from shaft-seal work, and identify the fork and front brake equipment actually fitted. Those assembly details help turn a general GT500 search into a useful repair order.

Match front brake pads and controls separately

The selected gasket set, fork seals and front brake pads list GT500 1976–1977. The brake lever has a narrower 1977 application. A pad’s year range cannot confirm the lever because the caliper and handlebar control are different assemblies.

Know your model before choosing partsSuzuki GT500 repair checkpoints

Use the complete model, year and fitted assembly. Each product has its own application and package contents.

1976–1977 repair selection

The featured gasket set, fork seals and front pads include both years. Each product still has its own dimensions and package contents.

1977 brake lever

The current lever entry is limited to 1977. The wider front-pad application does not establish lever fitment for 1976.

GT500, T500 and GT750

Use shared model entries only for the specific product that lists them. Neither the related twin name nor the GT family label proves complete interchange.

Identify your model before orderingSuzuki GT500 identification checklist

Use the identification on your machine and the component being repaired.

  1. Record the GT500 model year and engine identity.
  2. Identify the front caliper and master cylinder separately before selecting pads or a lever.
  3. Read the old fork-seal markings and compare the fitted fork if its history is unknown.

Suzuki GT500 parts questions

Which GT500 years do the featured parts cover?
The linked gasket set, fork seals and front brake pads list GT500 1976–1977. Other entries can be narrower, including the brake lever listed for 1977.
Can I order the GT500 brake lever for a 1976 motorcycle?
The current brake-lever application lists 1977 only. The 1976–1977 front-pad listing does not confirm the lever. Identify the fitted master cylinder and compare its lever requirements.
Are GT500 and GT750 engine parts interchangeable?
Do not infer interchange from the GT name. The GT500 is an air-cooled two-stroke twin, while the GT750 is a liquid-cooled triple. Use an explicit match on the individual product.
Does one clutch steel-plate listing supply a complete GT500 clutch?
Do not assume a complete stack from a single plate listing. Confirm the product’s sold quantity and compare friction plates, steel plates and service limits with the clutch requirements.
