About the Suzuki GV1200GL Madura
A GL-model service guide with separate year checks for forks, fuel control and hydraulic repairs.
The GV1200GL selection covers several service areas around the Madura, from the carburetor inlet valve to the water-pump shaft. The GL application is useful, but it does not make every product cover the same years. The 1985 fork and float-valve examples below are narrower than the 1985–1986 caliper and pump-seal entries.
Locate the leak before building the repair order
Fuel at the carburetor bowl, brake fluid at a caliper and coolant at a water pump involve different sealing components. Identify the leaking joint and inspect its mating surfaces before selecting parts. The float valve controls fuel entry; the water-pump mechanical seal works at the pump shaft. Compare the pump diagram for separate gaskets or seals required by the job.

Carburetor inlet
Selected valve: 1985
Match the needle-and-seat design and carburetor body. A valve assembly is separate from a complete carburetor rebuild kit.
Fork seals
Selected GL fork entry: 1985
Compare the complete seal profile and dimensions with the fork actually fitted. Do not use the caliper range as fork coverage.
Brake and cooling
Selected examples: 1985–1986
The caliper kit and water-pump seal service different fluids and assemblies. Identify the exact repair location.
