About the Suzuki SV650
First-generation carburetors and later SV service parts, clearly separated.
Suzuki introduced the SV650 in 1999 as a middleweight V-twin offered in naked and half-faired forms. The second generation arrived for 2003 with a new frame and fuel injection. That history matters when buying parts: a first-generation carburetor kit has no application in a later fuel-injected intake system.
Build the repair around the 2003 generation change
The 1999–2002 carburetor kit belongs to the first generation. Later clutch plates and fork seals have their own applications after the 2003 redesign. Brake pads can span that boundary, so match the caliper and pad shape independently instead of extending a carburetor or clutch part’s fitment.

1999–2002
Carbureted generation
The carburetor kit explicitly lists both SV650 and SV650S for these years.
Parts checkpoint: Confirm the carburetors are the matching units and check package quantity.
2003 redesign
Fuel injection replaces carburetors
Suzuki’s second generation changed the fuel system and chassis. The featured later clutch-plate application is 2003–2004.
Parts checkpoint: Choose fuel-injection service parts for injected bikes; do not use the early carb kit.

Check the suffix and equipment
The family contains naked and half-faired versions. Some products list both; others name SV650 only.
Parts checkpoint: A shared V-twin engine does not establish every fork, brake or control application.
Frame, engine and component checksIdentify your SV650 before ordering
Record the frame and engine markings, then compare the component being repaired. Include replacement-engine or chassis details if the motorcycle has been modified.
- Confirm the year from the VIN and market documentation, especially near the 2002/2003 change.
- Identify carburetors or fuel-injection throttle bodies before ordering intake service parts.
- Retain the S and ABS designations when checking brake and chassis applications.
- Use the donor assembly’s identity for a swapped fork, caliper or control.
