About the Yamaha XS750E
Yamaha XS750E carburetor, engine gasket, oil-filter seal and primary-drive parts.
The XS750E guide focuses on the service choices that are easy to confuse within Yamaha’s three-cylinder family. Two carburetor kits overlap on the 1978 E application, but the current listings do not provide a counted inventory showing how their supplied pieces differ. The gasket and filter-seal products also have their own collection ranges.
Choose by the actual assembly and supplied pieces
For the carburetor bank, record the carburetor markings and request the gasket, jet, float-valve and O-ring inventory plus the number of carburetors serviced. The primary chain, Yamaha reference 1J7-16139-04, works inside the engine’s primary drive; it is not a rear-wheel drive chain or cam chain. The wheel-seal kit needs its axle position and measured contents confirmed separately.

| Model or repair | Application or identifier | Before ordering |
|---|---|---|
| Carb kit: 1978–1979 listing | 1978–1979 E application | Counted contents and carburetors serviced are not published. Match the fitted carburetor. |
| Carb kit: 1978 listing | 1978 E application | Do not assume this is a fuller kit or a complete bank set without the supplied-parts inventory. |
| Engine gasket set | 1977–1979 E collection application | Compare the engine and included gasket list; these are product years rather than a model-production chart. |
| Internal primary chain | 1977–1980 E collection application; Yamaha 1J7-16139-04 | Match the primary-drive assembly and reference. |
| Wheel-seal kit | 1978 E application | Confirm front/rear position, dimensions and seals supplied; bearings are a separate check. |
Prepare for the repairYamaha XS750E frame, engine & model checklist
Use these checks with the Yamaha documentation for your original market. Frame and engine markings identify the assemblies; they do not prove that every fitted component is original.
- 1978 E model identity. Compare the complete frame and engine markings with original-market Yamaha documentation. A replacement engine can need different service parts from those suggested by the frame.
- Carburetor kit selection. Record the carburetor body markings and bowl shape. Compare the actual included pieces for the two E-listed kits; neither the kit name nor the wider year range establishes package equivalence.
- Engine and wheel seals. For an oil-filter O-ring, identify the housing groove and dimensions. For wheel seals, record the wheel position, hub and spacer measurements; engine fitment cannot identify wheel hardware.
Ask the PartsNMore team with your model, year, original market if known, and clear photos of the identification markings and component.
