About the Honda CL450 Scrambler
Identify the Scrambler and its fitted assemblies before building a restoration order.
Honda's CL450 Scrambler combines an air-cooled 444cc DOHC twin with high-mounted exhausts and a chassis suited to mixed-road riding. Honda's factory manual distinguishes the CL's exhaust, carburetor settings and frame components from the related CB450 road model. Similar engines do not establish complete CL/CB parts interchange.
This family page helps identify the motorcycle and plan the repair. The CL450K page gives more detailed K-version checkpoints and application limits. Original paint, exhausts and side covers can help orient a restoration, but the frame, engine and installed components should decide which parts you order.

Frame, exhaust and carburetor identity
Confirm the CL model from the motorcycle's markings and documentation. High pipes alone cannot identify a converted motorcycle or the engine inside it.

Choose the K version and year
The K guide separates the carb-kit, engine-gasket, fork-seal and clutch applications instead of applying one year range to every part.

Check individual shared applications
Some engine service listings name both CB450K and CL450K, while the factory manual documents differences in other assemblies. Require a CL entry for the part being ordered.
Frame, engine and fitted componentsHonda CL450 Scrambler identification checklist
- Record the full CL frame marking and separate engine number, plus the model year and original market.
- Identify the complete K version from the appropriate factory documentation before using year-specific service information.
- Compare the carburetor bodies and intake holders with the actual engine; note changes to the exhaust or airbox.
- Record the fork assembly and seal dimensions. Original-looking forks or covers can conceal a replacement front end.
