About the Honda CR500R
Choose gasket sets, individual clutch plates, rear pads and later fork seals around the work your CR500R needs.
Maintaining a CR500R means identifying the assemblies on the motorcycle today. Engine, clutch and suspension parts each have their own service ranges, and a replacement engine or front end may differ from the frame’s model year. Keep component markings and donor details with your repair notes.
Build an engine or chassis repair order
For engine work, compare the gasket set’s supplied pieces with the joints being opened. For clutch service, establish the plate type, condition and quantity before ordering individual plates. A fork-seal job needs all three seal dimensions and a separate look at dust seals and bushings; rear-pad replacement starts with the fitted caliper and old pad outline.
The linked products cover 1989–2001 engine gaskets, 1990–2001 clutch plates, 1996–2001 fork seals and 1987–2001 rear pads. For early cooling differences, front-pad options and earlier fork-seal sizes, use the Honda CR500 model and year guide. Other motocross models are grouped in Honda CR parts.
Model and year comparisonCR500R parts differences
Engine versus clutch
1989 is included in one range
The engine gasket set lists 1989–2001. The clutch plate lists 1990–2001, so its application cannot be extended back to 1989 from the gasket range.
Later fork service
1996–2001 oil-seal application
The later oil-seal set measures 46 × 58 × 9.5 mm. Earlier CR500R forks have separate product pages; measure the fitted assembly rather than choosing by a familiar model name.
Prepare for the repairIdentify your CR500R components
- Confirm the model year and compare frame and engine markings with the documentation. Treat a replacement engine as a separate identification task.
- Compare each gasket set’s contents with the repair scope. For clutch plates, confirm type, thickness, tab pattern and quantity.
- Measure the old fork seal and identify the fitted rear caliper. Preserve any application gaps or end years in the product page.
