About the Honda VFR800F Interceptor
The F name covers different generations: use the year and Honda model code together.
Honda’s development history identifies the 1998 VFR as RC46 and the redesigned 2014 VFR800F as RC79. Both belong to the V4 sports-touring line, but their shared 800 name does not make the early gasket set a later engine application. Keep the complete year, model code and original market on the repair list.
Even the early chassis parts have different limits
The featured gasket and fork dust-seal products list 1998–2001. The steering-bearing kit lists 1998 only. The steel clutch plate belongs to a separate 2014–2015 application. This table keeps those four boundaries visible in one place.
Identification and parts selectionVFR800F generation and repair comparison
| Listed application | Featured component | Quantity and fitment check |
|---|---|---|
| Early VFR800F: 1998–2001 | Engine gasket set | Set; confirm the included gasket list. This is not a 2014–2015 engine set. |
| Early VFR800F: 1998–2001 | Fork dust seals | Sold individually; two required if replacing one on each fork leg. Oil seals are separate. |
| VFR800F: 1998 only | SSH-903R steering-bearing kit | Check bearing sizes, races and supplied seals. The featured listing does not establish 1999–2001 coverage. |
| Later VFR800F: 2014–2015 | Steel clutch plate | Individual plain steel plate, reference 22321-MAS-000; confirm thickness, stack position and count. |
RC46 also appears in later VFR history; it is not a substitute for the exact year. Use the product’s own application even when the chassis code matches.
