About the Honda XL125
Plan an XL125 restoration around the carburetor, engine, drum brakes and clutch actually fitted.
The early Honda XL125 was a compact dual-purpose motorcycle with a four-stroke single and a two-valve cylinder head. A 1974 road test documented changes from the SL predecessor in its engine, frame and suspension. Identify the motorcycle and its components before borrowing a parts recommendation from a similar-looking Honda.
Choose the parts for an XL125 restoration
Start with the repair scope: a carburetor rebuild, an engine gasket job, drum-brake service or clutch work. The linked carburetor kit names 1976 only. Gasket choices separate 1974–1975 from 1976–1984, and the later top-end set serves a different scope from the complete engine set. Compare supplied pieces with the work planned before ordering.
This collection also contains selected XL125S catalog entries, so retain an S suffix wherever it appears on the bike and listing. The clutch plates below list 1974–1982 and 1984–1985, leaving 1983 unlisted. For a different capacity or XL designation, browse the Honda XL motorcycle parts collection.

Identify your motorcycle before orderingXL125 restoration and parts identification checklist
- Copy the complete model designation and year from identification and documentation, preserving any model suffix.
- Record the engine and carburetor markings. Compare gasket outlines and carburetor pieces with the fitted components.
- Identify front and rear brakes separately. Check clutch plate type and quantity, and keep omitted years out of a product’s coverage.
