About the Kawasaki KZ550
Find service parts for your KZ550, from the standard four to the GPz550 and LTD Shaft.
Kawasaki built several distinct motorcycles around its 553cc DOHC four-cylinder platform. The KZ550A is the standard model, the KZ550C carries the LTD name, and the D and H belong to the GPz550 branch. The 1983 KZ550F1 Spectre and KZ550M1 LTD Shaft add shaft-drive versions to the family.
Choose the model first, then plan the repair
The 1981 GPz550 brought engine and brake changes to the early 550 range, including a rear disc in place of the standard model’s drum. Parts overlap varies by assembly: early A/C/D carburetor seals form one application group, while selected H/F/M fuel-system parts form another. The model comparisons and repair links below show where those differences affect ordering.

These model names identify branches of the range. The years shown below describe specific model examples or product applications, not a worldwide serial-number chart.
Standard
KZ550A
Early A applications include a 1980–82 carb kit and intake-holder set. Some separate gaskets and float-valve parts extend through 1983; do not extend the kit coverage with them.

KZ550C
The C range has a dedicated clutch cable and rear drum-brake shoes. Its featured engine gasket set lists 1980–82, while several separate service parts also list 1983.

KZ550D
The D1 is the 1981 GPz. Its front master-cylinder kit and D/H brake-pad applications distinguish brake work from a standard or LTD repair.

KZ550H
H-model carb kits, bowl gaskets, caliper kits and wheel seals explicitly list 1982–83. Those later carb-service applications are separate from the early A/C/D bowl-gasket pattern.

KZ550F
Kawasaki identifies the 1983 F1 as the Spectre with shaft final drive. The two featured F carb kits list different year ranges; choose by the actual product application.

KZ550M
The 1983 M1 is the LTD Shaft. Confirm the M designation before using a C-model LTD cable or assuming the two models take the same fork-seal profile.

Use these checks with Kawasaki documentation for the original market. Frame and engine identity does not prove every fitted component is original.
- Frame and engine. Photograph the complete frame and engine markings. Use original-market Kawasaki documentation to identify the assemblies, especially when an engine has been replaced.
- Carburetor bank. Record the body markings and bowl shape. Early A/C/D and later H/F/M service products have different application lists; a four-carburetor layout alone is insufficient.
- Drive and brakes. Identify chain or shaft drive, then front or rear brake position. Compare the fitted caliper, drum, fork and controls before selecting their service parts.
Ask the PartsNMore team with the full model, year, original market if known, and clear photos of the markings and component.
