About the Suzuki GS750
Eight versus sixteen valves is a starting check; it does not identify every later GS750-family engine.
Distinguish later generations as well as valve count
Suzuki’s GS750/GSX750E archive separates the original two-valve-per-cylinder GS750 from later four-valve TSCC examples. Its 1980 and 1983 GSX750E entries both give 747 cc and 67 × 53 mm, while the 1983 example adds a 16-inch front wheel and Full Floater rear suspension. Matching displacement, bore and stroke alone therefore does not identify the complete later chassis or engine application.
Choose a gasket set by its explicit model entry
The featured sets list E/L 1980–1981 and S 1984–1986 / E 1984–1989 separately. Neither is established as a universal earlier or later GS750 kit. Use the full model, original market, engine number and gasket profiles; Japan-market archive examples do not supply a complete GS-to-GSX export cross-reference.
Parts and model differencesGS750-family identification and exact product applications
| Archive entry | Published distinguishing detail | Use in the parts check |
|---|---|---|
| 1976 GS750 | Two valves per cylinder; 748 cc | Separate the original engine from later four-valve examples. |
| 1980 GSX750E | Four-valve TSCC; 747 cc, 67 × 53 mm | Valve count alone does not identify every later engine. |
| 1983 GSX750E | 747 cc, 67 × 53 mm; 16-inch front wheel, Full Floater rear suspension | Record full model and engine markings; wheel/suspension clues concern the original chassis. |
| Part | Listed application | Package and reference |
|---|---|---|
| Carburetor kit 48-1413 | GS750 / GS750E 1980–1982 | Match carburetor markings; kit contents and service quantity need confirmation. |
| Gasket set 18-0166 | GS750E / GS750L 1980–1981 | This range does not establish original eight-valve fitment. |
| Gasket set 18-0167 | GS750S 1984–1986; GS750E 1984–1989 | Match engine identity and gasket profiles; other suffixes have their own entries. |
| Fork oil seals 27-1007 | GS750 1977–1978; GS750E 1979–1982 | Two seals; title 35 × 48 × 10.5/11 mm. Compare height and profile. |

Identify your motorcycle before orderingGS750 identification checklist
- Keep the full suffix, original market and engine number with the gasket order; do not label the sets simply early and late.
- Photograph the required cylinder, oil-passage and cover-gasket outlines for the installed engine.
- For carburetors or forks, record their markings separately; changed chassis parts do not identify a replacement engine.
