About the Suzuki GSX550
Retain the E suffix where listed and identify the exact exhaust joint being sealed.
The GSX550 collection brings together applications written as GSX550 and GSX550E. Those names need to remain distinct while selecting parts: the front master-cylinder kit lists GSX550E for 1982–1986, the cap lists GSX550E for 1983, and the muffler-joint gasket lists GSX550 for 1983.
A muffler-joint gasket is not an exhaust-port gasket
The linked gasket seals a slip joint between exhaust sections and is listed as 35 × 39.5 × 32 mm. Match it at that joint rather than treating it as a cylinder-head exhaust gasket. Any aftermarket exhaust or replacement master cylinder needs its own dimensions and application check.

GSX550E brake kit and tank cap
The front master-cylinder kit covers a listed 1982–1986 range, while the cap lists 1983. Confirm the actual cylinder and tank neck independently; their shared E suffix does not equal shared year coverage.
GSX550 exhaust slip joint
The gasket example names GSX550 for 1983. Compare its complete dimensions and downstream joint location, particularly where the exhaust has been replaced or altered.
Identify your motorcycle before orderingGSX550 identification & fitment checks
- Confirm the complete GSX550 model designation, including E where present, and the exact year.
- Identify the fitted front master cylinder and compare its bore and piston/seal arrangement with the kit.
- Check the fuel filler-neck arrangement and measure the muffler slip joint separately from the cylinder-head exhaust port.
